ADL Registry Documentation
The following ADL Registry documents are provided as works-in-progress. Check back often for versioned updates.
- Volume 1
Introduces the ADL Registry including its background and history, high-level requirements for the Registry, and the design assumptions and rationale used in creating the ADL Registry. It is intended for individuals who need a basic introduction and orientation to the ADL Registry and Content Object Repository Discovery and Registration Architecture (CORDRA) and provides the context for the other ADL Registry Volumes.
- Volume 2
Describes the ADL Registry, including its design, operation, and usage. This volume is intended primarily for repository managers, contributors, and users who will be searching, contributing to, and interfacing with the ADL Registry and need to know specific details about how it works, including the technical interfaces, transaction procedures, metadata requirements, and more.
- Volume 3
Introduces CORDRA, the architecture that forms the basis of the ADL Registry. CORDRA can be applied to non-DoD communities of practice that are interested in establishing their own registry services independent of ADL. It is intended for those who are investigating solutions to content registration and discovery and for those who wish to understand how the ADL Registry fits into CORDRA.
- Volume 4
Describes value-added services and tools that are currently available, as well as those in development. It also describes how new services can be created to provide extended capabilities to registry systems. Some services and tools are ADL-specific and serve the DoD community; others may have more general applicability and may be of value to those creating their own registry system and services. This volume is primarily intended for applications development specialists who want to provide customized or specialized capabilities to meet specific user needs.
